When making this inforgraphic,
I tried to convey the qualities that make Upland Hills unique by summing up its values into 5 header nouns, so that anyone could go to the "About" page and get a quick sense of what they're all about.
This information was important because if it's not quickly communicated in a clear and appealing way, the user might decide to visit a different farm to go pumpkin picking or horse-back riding. The things that make Upland Hills different must be highlighted so that they aren't overlooked.
I used this design because it references nature, and it's a tad playful. These are both qualities suited to Upland Hills, where nature is thriving and playtime for children is abundant. It's also easy to read, and it quickly communicates the five important qualities about the farm.
I used this text because it is concise, but not too serious. The tone is informative, yet light-hearted.
I wish I could have coded it in HTML5, because as a jpeg there's always the risk that the image will not load properly or will be distorted, and the user will not get the information it contains.

ReplyDeleteSince we did not get to "workshop" your inforgraphic in class, here are some things to keep in mind during revision:
1) Lose the dead wood in your comments. For instance, "More than 200 acres of plush land and fresh water await you" and "Dozens of committed employees tend to your needs."
2) Work to further contrast your text from your background. Your text gets lost.
3) Make it clearer that this is a tourist farm--not (merely) a working one.
That's it for now.
